Post Hotel – Leavenworth Washington – Photos + Q&A!

Our trip to Leavenworth, WA earlier this month was a dream!

I think the pictures speak for themselves, I mean look at this view from our room:

We’ve been to Leavenworth a few times (see my posts here and here and here), and it never gets old – especially during the winter holidays when it snows and the town is decorated for Christmas.

Here are some photos of our trip and there is a little Q&A of the questions I received regarding the Post Hotel and Leavenworth at the bottom of this post!

We really wanted to bring the kids this time but we weren’t sure how the restrictions due to COVID were going to be, so we made it an adult only trip.

If everything opens back up, we definitely want to bring the kids next year, they would love it!

Post Hotel/Leavenworth Q&A:

Is it a good place to visit with family and how many days would you recommend to visit?

The Post Hotel is an adult only hotel but the town of Leavenworth is super kid friendly and a great place to visit with kids!

In the winter time they have a hill that the kids can sled down right in the middle of town and it is is super festive.

During the month of December (before COVID), they had Santa in the town square on the weekends and carolers!

Hopefully when things open back up they will have that again – so yes I would say Leavenworth is family friendly.

But again, the Post Hotel is adult only.

I think 3 – 4 days is plenty of time to see everything without getting bored.

It is a really small town so it doesn’t take long to see everything!

Price of Post Hotel

I think the price is different depending on what time of year you go. You can see pricing on their website here:

Recommendations of other places to stay besides the Post Hotel

You can either rent a house via Airbnb or VRBO or stay in another hotel.

The hotels in town are honestly not that nice, they are pretty old.

If you are visiting with kids, the Bavarian Lodge is pretty nice.

Do you have to wear masks while walking around the hotel and spa?

You are asked to wear a mask around the hotel halls and lobby but do not have to wear a mask in the spa, around the pool or in the saunas which is really nice!

Are employees at the Post Hotel nice?

The employees are SO SO nice!! I have no complaints about service, they were so friendly and accommodating.

Are food and drinks at the Post Hotel included?

Breakfast and lunch are included as well as coffee, tea, etc. and it is all you can eat.

They also have dessert included from 7pm – 9pm.

The food is really good!

Dinner is not included.

How far in advance did you make a reservation?

We always book 2 – 3 months in advance, especially during the holidays/winter months.

Are all the pools open?

From 7:30am – 11:00pm

How are the roads driving up there?

Driving up to Leavenworth was rough, the roads were really snowy!

Without a 4 Wheel drive you can’t make it however coming back home they cleared the roads so it was not bad at all.

If you go during the winter, always drive a 4 wheel drive because the weather over Stevens Pass and through the mountains is unpredictable and you don’t want to get stuck!

Some areas of the drive have no reception!

Are restaurants open in Leavenworth?

As of December 2020, restaurants are doing take out only or outdoor seating only.

A few restaurants setup some covered outdoor areas with heaters and fires which was actually really nice and cozy!

The lines were long though, we waiting about 30-45 minutes to be seated for dinner.

For more recent restaurant openings, you will have to check online for Washington rules!
