In January, my girlfriend Domnika and I escaped Portland’s cold winter weather for four days to a place of sunshine, vibrant color and streets lined with palm trees. Destination Palm Springs!
We were both going through a season of various challenges with our kids (mainly each having a child who doesn’t sleep well at night), and our husbands agreed that we needed to have a trip away to restore and spoil ourselves a little.
Since becoming a mom, I have taken a few trips with just my girlfriends and I am a big believer in moms having time away for themselves, guilt free.
Being a mom is hard work, and don’t let anyone make you feel bad for wanting time away to restore your soul and your body. Even if you can’t take trips away, make sure to always have your time doing something that you love for yourself.
Yes, sometimes it is all about you mama!
Self care is going to make you a more patient mother and a happier one as well.
While in Palm Springs, we slept all night (uninterrupted by our little ones), ate whatever we wanted and didn’t have to share, and we did whatever we felt like all day. We just worried about ourselves for four days, no care in the world and it was wonderful.
Here are some pictures of our little trip:
If you are planning a girlfriends trip anytime soon, I highly recommend Palm Springs. You can see my Palm Springs Guide post here for things to do and places to see.
I will be posting a Part 2 of this trip along with some activities/ways to get your alone time in with your girlfriends!
