Collins Lake Resort Winter Getaway

The week before Christmas we spent four days at The Grand Lodges at Collins Lake Resort. We have decided to make this an annual family tradition. The lodge life is so relaxing.

We woke up each morning and ate breakfast, sipped coffee on our balcony while admiring the snow, spent a couple of hoursĀ  each day sledding and exploring little shops. While the kids napped Jason and I watched lots of Christmas movies and took it slow.

It was a nice getaway before the hustle and bustle of Christmas and New Years Day… which by the way Happy New Year!

I was planning on posting a “year in pictures” blog post but am going to skip that this year. I’ve been taking a little bit of a break from social media these holidays and it feels so good to just be present and in the moment with family and friends.

Here are a whole bunch of photos from our little mountain trip!

How amazing is this tree at the Timberline Lodge?! It was decorated with REAL gingerbread cookies. We went there one evening after sledding for dinner and to sit by the fire.

The sunset on the way back from dinner was amazing. Look at those colors!

The kids looked out this window first thing every morning to see if there was any fresh snowfall. It didn’t snow until our last night/day there which you will see later in this post.

Daddy cooked up breakfast for us every day and per Charlie’s request, we had to have pancakes!

Coffee with a view on our balcony. It was so beautiful and peaceful there.

Day 2 sledding, in proper gear. When we got there on the first day we went straight to our favorite sledding spot but we were wearing jeans and the kids were cold so we did it right on Day 2 – bundled from head to toe.

On our third day there, we went to Hood River for the day. You can see lots of pics in my post here.

And this is what we woke up to on our last day there! A winter wonderland, it was so beautiful:

We are going back to the same lodge again this weekend and I am so excited! There should be even more snow by now and the kids can hardly wait!

This will be our first trip of 2018 and then we have another trip planned in March. Jason and I are going to Hawaii!

I love planning our trips out for the year, it’s always something to look forward to.

2016 was a rough year for us. I gave birth to Claire and we struggled with her sleep for the entire year, not to mention we all got sick multiple times that year but 2017 was amazing.

No major illnesses, no hardships and really nothing hard or stressful. It was a blessed year full of happy times.

We are really looking forward to 2018 with new goals and we are hopeful for another awesome year!

Happy New Year!
