Back to School – Trendy & Affordable Kids Clothing

I still can’t believe Charlie is starting Kindergarten in 3 weeks. I’m so excited and yet, so sad that I won’t have him home with me every day.

I am so used to spending every single day of the week with these kids and it’s going to be hard for me to let that go, especially knowing that this “chapter” of our life is nearing an end (the chapter where Charlie is home every single day).

Thankfully, I still have Claire around for a few more years. Not sure how I will survive when the day comes for her to go to Kindergarten as well. But let’s not go there yet…..

Yesterday we organized all of the kids clothes. I went Back to School shopping and wanted to see if there was anything else he is going to need.

When I was a kid I remember back to school shopping was my favorite and I noticed that Charlie had so much fun back to school shopping with me this year!

I’m going to be sharing how we got ready for back to school starting with today’s clothing edition: I will be sharing what clothing items we bought for him and my favorite trendy, yet affordable stores.

Then next week, I will share school supplies and lunch/snack prep posts!

If you are a first time mom of a school kid, maybe my prep posts can give you some ideas of what to get! I got lots of great ideas from other moms who shared their tips on Instagram and Blogs too!

For clothing this year I mainly shopped at H&M and I did a sponsored collaboration with FabKids ! They have some awesome kids clothing!

Here are the kids wearing FabKids from head to toe!

I love H&M (not sponsored by H&M) because their prices are great, quality is good and their pieces are trendy!

In today’s post you will notice that MOST of Charlie’s back to school clothes are from H&M.

Other favorite places to shop include Fred Meyer because they have the DIP clothing line which has adorable, trendy pieces for cheap and Target.

I am not a huge fan of Target clothing for kids (it can be expensive), but they have their “Art Class” brand and their jeans fit Charlie really well. They also have some super cute tops for boys.

So here is what Charlie’s back to school clothing list looked like and what we purchased is linked up at the bottom of this post!

Basics:

When I shop for my kids, I like to stick to basics and staples for two main reasons; they go with anything and you can mix and match! By “Basics” and “Staples”, I am referring to: T-shirts, Long Sleeves, Sweaters, Jeans, and Sweat Pants.

I chose solid colors like black, white, etc and some simple striped designs.

A few nice button up shirts are great to have for days that you want to dress him up a little more or for picture day. Also a cute denim jacket and chambray shirt!

Shoes:

Tennis Shoes, High Tops, other. I bought him a good pair of tennis shoes to wear on most days but on the really rainy days or when we want to mix it up, a good pair of high tops is good to have. Nordstrom always has such a great selection of kids shoes. I linked up all of the pairs we got for Charlie this year at the end of this post.

Wool Socks:

Costco always has the best wool socks and I like to buy them every year. They are so good to have for those extra cold days.

Coats, Vests, Light Jackets:

I bought Charlie a nice warm puffer vest, some lighter zip up fleece and cotton jackets that he can wear in the Fall and under his thick jacket when it gets really cold.

I love having a vest because he can wear it underneath his coats or as a coat on milder days. They also look soo cute on little boys!

Last year I found an amazing winter coat for Charlie from Costco for $29.99! You can see him wearing it in this post here. That will be his winter coat this year because it still fits and it’s so so nice.

Accessories

Hats! Charlie looks so cute in hats and loves wearing them. I also love that they keep his head warm at recess and to and from school during the cold winter months.

He loves all this new clothes and is soooo excited to start school! Love my big boy!
