Mamaway Nano Bamboo Belly Wrap Review

This bamboo belly wrap by Mamaway is one of the best postpartum girdle we’ve ever seen if your looking to tighten your abs after a C-section – A full list of them can be seen here. We’ll go into a lot more detail throughout this in-depth review, but just in case you want a quick summary, here are the key facts.

  • It’s very well-made from soft, cool, and comfortable bamboo.
  • Along with bamboo, it’s made from a combination of nylon, polyester and elastic.
  • It bends and moves with you, so it flows the flow of day to day life instead of being restrictive.
  • It’s a little bit more expensive than some of the other options out there, but very much worth it.
  • The fastening system means it will fit great, and stay in place.
  • It can be used right after giving birth, and the compression and form help to improve your posture and recovery almost immediately.
  • It can be washed again and again, without losing its shape or degrading.

Let’s cut right to the chase. If you’re looking for one of these wraps, either because you’re expecting, or you’ve already given birth, this is the one to get if it fits your budget. Otherwise, there are some other great options to choose from, too, but from everything we’ve seen, Mamaway have really put together an incredible product offering here.

Materials, fit, and construction

Let’s talk a bit more about the materials. It’s mostly made out of a comfortable, breathable nylon, at 57%. Next up is polyester with bamboo charcoal at 16%, and then 15% rubber for the inside of the straps and the elastic parts.

It’s very well-made, if you look closely at all of the construction and stitching, you can tell this is a high-end product meant to last. You can wash it over and over, and it doesn’t lose its shape or feel. If you plan on having more babies down the road, you’ll be coming back to this product again and again – it can be a great investment! If one is enough, just remember this is an important product and in certain cases it’s just worth it to spend a little extra when it means getting something that’s so superior to the other choices out there.

Before moving on, let’s talk about the fit. There are three sizes available. Medium, large, and extra large. Here’s a breakdown:

  • Medium: 97 cm long, for waits under 41 inches.
  • Large: 107 cm long, for waists between 41-44 inches.
  • Extra large: 119 cm long, for waists over 45 inches.

You can choose the size based on your stage of pregnancy. If you’re still in the early stages of your pregnancy, use your pre-pregnancy body size as a guideline. If you’re closer to your due date, select one size smaller than what would currently fit you. Since it’s easy to adjust, you don’t have to worry too much about getting the perfect size, just use it as more of a guideline.

To put it on, it’s just a simple 3-step process. There are two compression sub belts designed to help support and reinforce key areas for recovery, and to instantly improve your silhouette.

Uses

This postnatal recovery belt (“belly wrap”) isn’t just to help you look better in your clothes while you recover from your pregnancy, beyond the superficial advantages it actually helps with the recovery as well, and can also help with posture and overall comfort.

It helps with recovery of the uterus and pelvic floor if you wear it right after pregnancy. Whether you give birth naturally or via a C-section, you can use this product without issue.

You can wear it directly on your skin, but we recommend having a thin layer of clothing underneath because it’s more comfortable that way. Some prefer to wear it directly on their skin, and it’s definitely a little less warm that way, so the best bet is just to try both and see what suits you better.

While it’s generally recommend starting to wear it right after your pregnancy, it can be worm for months after as well. Some people don’t know about it, or don’t get one until months later, and it can still be very beneficial – just not as beneficial as if you had it right away – so if you plan on using it, it’s a great idea to pick it up ahead of time instead of waiting until you’ve already given birth.

Other things to keep in mind

While it’s comfortable, stretchy, and breathable – it might not be the best bet to work out in, because it would get a little hot. Having said that, as long as you toss it in the washing machine or give it a quick hand-wash afterwards, you’ll be just fine, especially if you’ve got the AC pumping!

Depending on the fit of your clothing, like if you’re wearing tight and thin t-shirts, you’ll probably be able to see it underneath. If you’re self-conscious about this – first of all – don’t be, because who cares what other people think when you’re doing something that’s healthy and important for you and your baby, but secondly – some women opt to simply wear it at home. It’s your call, but honestly, please don’t worry about how you’ll look – this isn’t meant for fashion, it’s meant for function.

Overall, this product is very well reviewed, and probably the best one we’ve seen to date. If you have any questions about it, the folks at Mamaway are very kind and helpful to drop them a line. They even have a line of products for dads, like their baby sling ring!

You can visit the Mamaway website here if you have any questions for them, but we recommend picking it up on Amazon for the best price and fast shipping and easy returns.
