Healthcom Waist Slimming Belt Shaper

Not all slimming belts are created equal. Some are used more for looks, others focus more on the medical needs of the person wearing them, and some are multi-purpose. Today, let’s take a look at a multi-purpose belly wrap by Healthcom. It’s a simple, affordable option – but is it good enough? We’re going to take an in-depth look to help you decide if you can settle for one of the cheaper options, or if you need something better – we have a full list of abdominal binders or girdles here.

First things first…

Let’s clear the air and get it right out of the air, this is among the lower tier of options out there. There are a handful of options in the $10-$20 price range, and while they’re generally pretty decent, it’s hard to compare them to some of the high end options that can cost around $100. Having said that, not everybody needs to spend a lot on one of these, and in a lot of cases an affordable one will be just fine, so it’s really up to you. Having said that, we’ve compiled all the information you need in order to make the right decision.

Let’s start by looking at the pros of this belly wrap

This wrap has some things going for it, other things working against it, and we’re going to break them all down for you – starting with what it gets right.

The price, obviously, is the first big pro and what puts it on our radar immediately. It’s available in three different sizes to suit a variety of body types. They offer small, medium, and large, and here are the measurements for each:

  • Small: 37 inches long, 9 inches wide.
  • Medium: 39 inches long, 9 inches wide.
  • Large: 43 inches long, 9 inches wide.

Also keep in mind that this is stretchy, and adjustable, and it’s generally a good idea to go a size up, especially if you’re right in between two sizes.

This particular wrap is on the bulky side, so if you want to wear it under clothing and have it not be visible, you’ll need to wear baggier clothing which kind of defeats the purpose anyways. That’s just if you’re wearing this for cosmetic purposes, though. If you need it for health reasons, for instance after a hysterectomy, or after a c-section, or simply for added support… then the appearance doesn’t matter as much. Having said that, some of the higher-end models are slimmer and do a better job of being discreet, if that’s important to you.

The fabric is relatively soft, stretchy, and does what it’s supposed to do, but there are some issues, as well.

And now for the cons…

Some people who have owned it have reported that it’s not the most durable, they’ll wear it for a while and the material will start to degrade a bit. If you plan on wearing it for a long time, it might be a good idea to just get two, just to be safe – but then you should really considering buying a slightly higher quality option instead.

As we already mentioned, it feels kind of bulky when you’re wearing it. Granted, more bulk can mean added support, but we’ve seen other belly wraps that manage to be very supporting without unnecessary padding. That padding does add to the comfort, so it’s a give and take, really.

Some people have some trouble putting it on, you definitely need two hands to do it up, but that’s out out of the ordinary for these types of wraps. Some are a bit easier than others, but generally speaking they’re all similar. It mostly comes down to how it’s designed, and the overall build quality. This one is fairly basic in both departments, don’t expect a high-end item here by any means.

Final thoughts

Overall, this isn’t the best or the worst option out there, and it does do the job it was designed for. With 3 sizes, comfy fabric, and a very low price – this is a popular choice. The overall reviews are above 4/5, so people that buy it are generally happy with it, and with such a low price they’re willing to be a little more forgiving as well. If you’re looking for a top of the line postpartum belly wrap, keep looking – but if you’re looking for something affordable to get the job done – this is a strong choice for you!

It can be confusing to shop for different pregnancy belts and recovery girdles, so hopefully this review has helped to shine some light on the different options you’ve got.
