Date nights… one of my favorite nights of the week.
We are with our kids all the time (especially me when Jason goes to work) and so I love having him all to myself once in a while!
This was an especially rough week. Anytime the kids are sick I get pretty stressed out. Even if they sleep at night, I set my alarm and constantly check on them.
If you are a mom, you know how it is. You just can’t sleep unless you know your kids are 100% safe and healthy!
On Thursday when Jason came home from work I was pretty grumpy. I snapped at him a few times and I felt terrible!
I had to apologize for being so mean!
I didn’t realize how cooped up and tired I’ve been from being in the house all week and not sleeping well since Claire wasn’t feeling good.
It was nice to go on a date night and be able to just leave it all at home and reconnect. It really put me back where I need to be in terms of my mood!
It’s so easy to let daily stresses effect our mood and then we put it on the people we love most.
It’s normal but it’s also important to remember the people who love us are there to support us, not be our punching bags 🙂
This is why I think date nights are so important. We can get so caught up in the day to day responsibilities of life that we forget to laugh, love and just enjoy living in the moment.
Well, now you know I’m mean to my husband sometimes. I promise I’m not that bad 😉
Today my cycling instructor celebrated her 4 year anniversary and she told us that she dated her husband for 14 years before deciding to marry him (14 years, wow!).
They have been married for 4 years now and she said “commitment really makes a relationship stronger.”
She was referring to marriage. “When you are truly committed, you don’t go look for something better, newer, younger, prettier or easier. You fight harder to be a better person every day and love, support and work on your relationship, no matter what.”
I loved how she said their relationship was the best it’s ever been once they officially tied the knot. There isn’t an easy “out” anymore so you fight with all you have.
That just really resonated with me and I think this can apply to anything in life.
If we really commit ourselves to something 100%, we will fight harder for it.
Well I was planning on just talking about my outfit and a few snippets about our date night, but there you have it. A few sappy thoughts on marriage 🙂
This dress set by Free People makes me feel like the salsa dancing emoji in the red dress. I love this set, it’s so soft and comfortable and you can mix and match the top or bottom with other outfits.
